FIRE CREWS RESPOND TO VEGETATION FIRE SPARKED DURING LAWN MOWING


Spanish Fork, Utah — At approximately 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3, Spanish Fork Fire & EMS was dispatched to a vegetation fire in the area of 1150 N Marketplace Drive (behind Lowe’s).

Flames, which are believed to have sparked during lawn mowing at the neighboring solar farm, quickly jumped the wall and spread into a dry field adjacent to the solar farm.

Within an hour, crews had the fire 100% contained to the roughly 20-acre area. 

No structures were damaged in the fire and no structures were directly threatened.

Spanish Fork units were assisted by Spanish Fork Police Dept., and mutual aid agencies from Salem, Mapleton, Springville, Provo, Utah County Fire, and Central Utah 911. The response included 8 brush trucks, 4 engines, 2 water tenders and nearly 50 firefighters.
